Root Canal (Endodontic) Therapy
A root canal is needed when the nerve of the tooth is infected. Tooth decay can cause an abscess (infection). The decay is removed and an opening is made through the tooth to access the pulp chamber. The pulp is removed and the root canals are cleaned, shaped, disinfected and filled. The crown of the tooth is then restored.
